Honestly I believe it will be very hard to reduce the violence in this world. People now days are greedy. No one has time to spend with their children so their day care teachers and their teachers are raising them. I remember being a kid and worrying about getting to play outside when I got home from school. I met a 4 year old the other day in a day care who was worrying about what brand of shoes he was wearing!!! He will only wear name brand clothes!! The things that are supposed to matter, like just being happy and enjoying our amazing planet don't matter to anyone anymore. I think to reduce violence in this world the parents need to spend more time with their children, and let them be just that, children. Discipline them and teach them right from wrong. Show them the joy of camping, doing arts and crafts, or playing in the yard with the dog. If our kids grow up seeing that 80 percent of our time was worrying about making money so we could drive a nicer car or have a nicer house, then what do you think their personalities are going to desire? I bet it won't be hoping to hike the Grand Canyon or visit Australia. The ones that can't afford to get the finer things in life will do what it takes to get them. Because that is what they were TAUGHT, that is what they believe brings happiness. I became my mother and thankfully she supported us with a roof over my head, food, and clothing, but she showed me "the finer things in life." She showed me how to really be happy. I'm not worried about driving a nicer car, I have a good working economy efficient car. I'm content, and guess what, I just got back from an awesome camping trip with my husband and my dogs! I would rather spend time with my family then working all of the time trying buy a bigger house, or an expensive outfit. I know some have to work though especially the single parents, but I'm talking about the ones who don't need to work to buy the next meal. I'm talking about the ones that are having to support an expensive lifestyle. A lifestyle that their children will follow. I've even had friends that have money that will steal just to get what they want because.... (they thought it would make their life happier)! I'm not saying it's impossible to reduce the violence. I'm saying it will take work and effort from everyone. You have to start some where.
